Zest Tea: Feeling the buzz?
For tea enthusiasts that want the same kind of kick they get out of coffee, Zest Tea could be the answer.
The brainchild of James Fayal (pictured) and Ricky Ishida, Zest Tea – launched in 2014 – contains extra natural caffeine via a green tea extract that is added via a proprietary process such that it is evenly distributed (they use whole leaf tea in pyramid teabags rather than crushed tea) and does not add bitterness.
Millennials - particularly affluent knowledge workers – are buying into the brand, which provides the refreshment and flavor of tea but the energizing effects of coffee without the jitters, said Fayal, who claimed that the L-Theanine in the tea slowed down the absorption of caffeine.
