The Coca-Cola Company has recalled some Hubert's Lemonade due to potential presence of glass in some bottles.

Selected Hubert's Lemonade, 16 fl. Oz original, strawberry, blackberry and watermelon flavours are affected.

Just over 42,000 cases (12 bottles per case) were distributed to retail outlets.

Affected codes

Hubert's Original Lemonade, UPC: 04900006984 - ONLY bottles labeled with code D1626UB

Hubert's Strawberry Lemonade, UPC: 04900007035 - ONLY bottles labeled with codes D1626UB or D1627UB

Hubert's Blackberry Lemonade, UPC: 04900006978 - ONLY bottles labeled with code D1628UB

Hubert's Watermelon Lemonade, UPC: 04900007040 - ONLY bottles labeled with codes D1627UB or D1628UB

Coca-Cola North America said it had received a ‘small number’ of consumers getting in contact about product quality but no injuries have been reported.

“We immediately identified production lots associated with product referenced by consumers and placed all potentially affected products under our control on hold,” a spokeswoman told us.

“The beverages were produced at a co-packing facility in New Jersey. During the bottle prep process, prior to the bottles being filled, we experienced some breakage of bottles which resulted in small pieces of glass falling into a limited number of bottles prior to filling and capping.

“To provide some perspective on the limited scope of the situation, we’ve been able to inspect tens of thousands of bottles and the defect rate does not appear to be any higher than one hundredth of one percent.

“This is voluntary recall of a limited amount of product. In an overabundance of caution we are voluntarily removing the product from the market and are communicating directly with retailers.”

Coca-Cola said it had identified where the product was delivered and was communicating with each location. It was not distributed outside the US.

The bottles were distributed primarily to multiple retailers across the eastern US, although a limited number of retail outlets in other parts of the country also received them.
