Coca-Cola invests £2.3m in Scottish soft drinks plant

Coca-Cola European Partners is investing £2.3m ($2.9m) in Scottish operations this year, helping to save water at its East Kilbride plant. 

The £2.3m injection at the site has funded a new water treatment plant, which provides a more efficient water recovery system from the site’s four manufacturing lines. Coca-Cola says this will save an estimated nine million liters of water a year.

Coca-Cola has invested £56m ($70m) across its six manufacturing sites in Great Britain this year.

The East Kilbride site, which celebrated its 50th​ anniversary in 2014, employs more than 150 people and produces 16m cases of product annually. It is the only Coca-Cola European Partners site that produces the Appletiser brand. 

The factory welcomed Linda Fabiani MSP and Dr Lisa Cameron MP last week to mark the investment.
